德赢网Society for Science & the Public and the sponsors of its competitions are pleased to present an online badging system to recognize high school students' participation and achievement in science fairs and independent student research.
Through this program, students who participate in Society-affiliated science fairs,as well as those who take part in the Society's premier high school science competitions -- the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) and the Regeneron Science Talent Search (Regeneron STS) -- will be able to claim, display, share and promote the badges they've earned.Badges also will be awarded to the science fair community at-large,including educators, mentors, judges and volunteers who take part in Intel ISEFand Regeneron STS.Each past participant will receive a public profile page featuring any awards they've won in the Society's competitions and,for more recent winners, the digital badges they've been awarded.
What is a digital badge?
Digital badges are a way to recognize skills and achievement gained outside of an official school or work setting.
Digital badging has gained popularity recently as a key ingredient in online and informal education -- it's a way to inspire learning, certify achievement and validate that you've acquired new knowledge or skills.
The Society and Intel,a longtime Society sponsor and partner, created this badging platform as part of theMozilla Open Badgesinitiative,a new online standard to recognize and verify learning. The development of this website was made possible by a 2012-2013 grant from the Badges for Lifelong Learning Competition, part of the Digital Media Learning Competition,in collaboration with the Macarthur,Gates, and Mozilla Foundations.
How do I get started?
The Society notifies badge recipients by email whenever badges are awarded, typically following judging of our competitions. The Society uses the email address it has on file for students, judges and volunteers of our competitions.
You may view your badges by logging into theSociety Badging site.
